The International Research Conference

Hedayah hosted the Eighth International Research Conference in collaboration with the Netherlands’s International Centre for Counter-Terrorism (ICCT) and with kind support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, the Government of Spain, and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the UAE.
The Conference convened leading experts, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to exchange new research, methodologies, best practices, and findings relevant to countering extremism and violent extremism.
Participants covered a range of emerging and cross-cutting issues, including the exploitation of artificial intelligence (AI) and social media platforms by extremist actors, building resilience to online extremism, developing a gendered understanding of extremism, challenges in rehabilitation and reintegration, and child and youth engagement in extremism and violent extremism.
Strategic partners included the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT), the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), Love Frankie, Tech Against Terrorism, the Alfred Deakin Institute (Deakin University), the RESOLVE Network, Mythos Lab, the United Nations Office on Drugs & Crime (UNODC), Albany Associates, and the Policing Institute for the Eastern Region (Anglia Ruskin University), the Global Community Engagement & Resilience Fund (GCERF), the Kofi Annan Foundation, and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT).
