Hedayah, the International Center of Excellence for Countering Extremism and Violent Extremism, convened its annual International Research Conference for 2025 (RC25) in Brussels, Belgium, from 10 to 12 November, with generous support from the European Union and in partnership with the EU Knowledge Hub on Prevention of Radicalisation
The event brought together more than 350 participants, both online and in-person, including leading experts, practitioners, researchers, and policymakers from over 40 countries, to exchange the latest findings on preventing and countering extremism and violent extremism (P/CEVE).
Over two and a half days, 46 speakers engaged with participants in keynote presentations, thematic panels, workshops, and consultations exploring critical and emerging themes such as preventing extremism online; the far right and extremism; gaming and digital resilience; rehabilitation, reintegration, and recidivism; preventing extremism through education; strategic communications and trust-building; and radicalisation and recruitment trends.
RC25 also showcased research, evidence, and lessons learned from the Strengthening Resilience to Violent Extremism (STRIVE) Global program funded by the European Union and implemented by Hedayah. Launched in 2015 by Hedayah and funded by the European Union, the Strengthening Resilience to Violent Extremism (STRIVE) Global program supports civil society organizations (CSOs), local actors, and government entities in designing and implementing impactful, evidence-based interventions to prevent and counter extremism and violent extremism.
The event was supported by 12 sponsors and strategic partners, including Hedayah’s STRIVE Global, the Global Network on Extremism and Terrorism (GNET), the Cyber Threats Research Centre (CYTREC), Deakin University, the Christchurch Call Foundation (CCF), Magenta, University College Cork (UCC), Deris Wanaag, and the University of Leeds Centre for Global Security Challenges (CGSC).
